MuseScore

MuseScore refuses to refund. The company has completely changed its format and you can no longer download interactive files. I understand this is a copyright issue, yet they should state this upfront. There are only a handful of interactive files now. It is now simply a sheet music PDF download site, and more expensive than any competitor, even with the $49 membership "discount." In short: it is nothing like it was. I asked for a refund and MuseScore is refusing. Don't make the same mistake. Use MusicNotes.com. Cheaper and better library.

I was simply looking for a single sheet of sheet music for my child. I found it on MuseScore listed at $6.45. Sounds reasonable, right? Wrong. It is literally impossible to buy the score without being forced into a subscription. There is no clear or honest way to purchase the item on its own. I tried multiple times to avoid the subscription, but the site pushes you into it no matter what. In the end, I reluctantly accepted the so-called “7-day free trial” just to download that one score. After accepting the subscription trial, I immediately realized that the sheet music prices were significantly higher than they would be without a subscription. The same score that was advertised at $6.45 suddenly jumped to almost $9 once the subscription was active. At that point, I tried to cancel the subscription immediately. You can’t. The subscription management menu does not exist on the website or in the app. It only appears after they charge your credit card. In other words, you cannot cancel during the trial period because the cancellation option is deliberately hidden until after you’ve been billed. Once they charge you, the only option available is not to renew the subscription. There is no real “cancel subscription” option before the charge, which completely defeats the purpose of a free trial. This is dark-pattern design at its worst: misleading pricing, forced subscriptions, hidden cancellation, and deliberate obstruction. Avoid this service at all costs.

I signed up for a free 7 day trial and my credit card was IMMEDIATELY charged $39.99 and then I got an email that said it would go up to $54.99. I was looking for ONE song to consider buying the music for and that one song turned out to not even be available for purchase. I could listen to it but not purchase the score. The chat bot is useless. I contacted my credit card company to hopefully get them to refuse the charge due to fraud. I wish I had seen these reviews before I signed up. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR ANYTHING WITH THIS COMPANY!

I have been using Musescore in all it's iterations from 1-current over my 20 years as a classroom teacher .Recently I have retired and with money being a tad tight I have stopped my Musescore Pro subscription temporarily . Whilst there have been "sorry to see you go" type emails, the process to suspend the subs. was easy and quick ...unlike the majority of subs these days. So congrats Musescore. I'll be back ...or rather I'll be bach ...John from Sydney Australia
